Removal Project-Ship Deck Surface Preparation
To achieve industry-standard surface cleanliness for long-term corrosion prevention and coating integrity.
Professional Surface Restoration and Corrosion Mitigation
This project involved the restorative treatment of a heavily corroded vessel deck. Given the operational requirements in Singapore’s maritime environment, the deck was subjected to severe atmospheric and salt-spray oxidation. The project utilized advanced abrasive blasting technology to restore the substrate to a near-white metal finish, ensuring optimal bonding conditions for high-performance anti-corrosive protective systems.
To achieve maximum efficiency while maintaining environmental compliance, we deployed the Shot Blast Machine.
Technology: The system utilizes a closed-loop centrifugal blasting process. By propelling steel media at high velocity, the machine removes mill scale, heavy rust, and degraded coatings without the use of chemical solvents.
Environmental Control: The integrated dust collection system ensures that particulate matter is contained at the source, preventing cross-contamination of the vessel's environment and adhering to strict maritime safety and health regulations.
Surface Profile: The abrasive process creates a uniform anchor profile, which is critical for the mechanical interlock of subsequent primers and top-coats. This significantly extends the coating’s service life compared to traditional mechanical grinding or power tool cleaning.
Key Project Outcomes:
Surface Integrity: Successful removal of deep-seated oxidation, exposing raw, sound metal.
Productivity: Achieved high square-meter coverage per hour, significantly reducing vessel downtime during maintenance intervals.
Quality Assurance: The treated surface achieved the required surface preparation standard, providing a clean, dry, and profile-optimized substrate ready for immediate protective coating application.
