Speaker: Mr. Bob Harris
Installing a self-leveling screed involves the following steps:
-
Preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly and remove any debris or contaminants. If necessary, repair any cracks or imperfections in the surface.
-
Priming: Apply a primer to the surface to ensure good adhesion of the screed.
-
Mixing: Prepare the self-leveling screed according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves mixing the powder with water in a mixer or bucket.
-
Pouring: Pour the mixed screed evenly over the surface, taking care to avoid creating air pockets or voids. Use a trowel or spatula to spread the screed evenly and remove any excess material.
-
Leveling: Use a long spirit level or a laser level to ensure that the screed is level. If necessary, adjust the screed using a trowel or screed board.
-
Finishing: Allow the screed to dry completely before proceeding with any further work. Sand or grind the surface if necessary, to achieve a smooth finish.
Note: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions when working with self-leveling screed. Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and a dust mask, and ensure that the area is well-ventilated.
