Removal Project-Removal Of Aged & Delaminated Epoxy Floor Coating
Mechanical removal of deteriorated epoxy coating in multi-storey car park
Epoxy Coating Removal Works – Car Park Surface Restoration
This project involved the removal of aged and delaminated epoxy floor coating from a multi-storey car park surface. The existing coating showed signs of peeling, blistering, and uneven wear, posing both aesthetic and safety concerns.
The goal was to mechanically strip the epoxy layer and restore the concrete surface to a clean, bondable condition in preparation for new coating or repair work.
Machine Application: HRC 550
The HRC 550 planetary grinder was selected for its efficiency and power in handling large surface restoration tasks. Key features utilized in this project:
Three planetary grinding heads delivering high coverage and uniform removal
Equipped with PCD diamond tooling ideal for epoxy and thick coating removal
Heavy-duty motor and adjustable pressure system for tackling varying floor conditions
Compatible with dust extraction systems to reduce airborne debris and improve worksite cleanliness
This configuration allowed for consistent removal of epoxy without damaging the underlying concrete.
Work Process:
Surface Preparation
Loose debris and surface contaminants were cleared.
Safety measures, including barriers and signage, were set up.
Epoxy Grinding
HRC 550 was used to grind through the epoxy coating layer by layer.
Passes were made systematically to ensure full removal across the parking bays and drive lanes.
Edges and tight areas were treated using handheld grinders with matching tooling.
Final Touch-up & Cleaning
Surface was vacuumed and inspected for remaining coating.
Final grinding pass ensured the surface was ready for the next application phase.
Results:
The grinding operation using HRC 550 achieved excellent results with:
Clean and consistent surface finish
Full removal of epoxy coating including areas with previous delamination
Minimized dust and noise impact through proper vacuum attachment
The work was completed on time with minimal disruption, ensuring readiness for subsequent recoating.
