Demolition Project-Concrete Coring Works

Concrete Opening Work Using Shibuya Coring Machine TS-403

Concrete Opening Work Using Shibuya Coring Machine TS-403

To perform concrete coring and opening work on reinforced concrete slab using Shibuya TS-403 coring machine. The objective was to create a rectangular slab opening by performing multiple overlapping coring holes for precise edge control and minimal vibration impact to the surrounding structure.

Equipment Used:
  • Shibuya TS-403 Core Drilling Machine (220V, 50Hz)

  • Diamond Core Bits Ø150 mm

  • Water Supply System with Collection Control

  • Vacuum Base & Anchored Stand

Work Procedure:

Step 1 – Site Preparation

  • Work zone was cordoned and covered with protective plastic sheet to prevent dust and slurry spread.

  • All electrical and water supply lines were checked before operation.

  • Machines were positioned and secured using anchor bolts and vacuum base.

Step 2 – Marking & Alignment

  • Opening layout was marked precisely on the concrete surface according to structural drawing.

  • Multiple coring positions were arranged in sequence to form a rectangular shape (stitch-coring method).

Step 3 – Drilling Operation

  • Two sets of Shibuya TS-403 rigs were operated simultaneously for higher efficiency.

  • Each coring cycle was controlled by a hand-feed system for consistent pressure and smooth progress.

  • Continuous water cooling was applied to reduce friction heat and extend bit life.

  • Slurry and debris were collected using wet vacuum and containment sheets.

Step 4 – Core Extraction

  • Each core sample was removed cleanly after drilling (see attached photo).

  • The completed coring line formed a neat, continuous edge that defined the opening boundary.

Step 5 – Final Opening & Cleaning

  • After all holes were completed, the concrete section within the coring line was carefully removed.

  • Opening was inspected to ensure dimension accuracy and surface finish.

  • Site was cleaned thoroughly, leaving no slurry residue.

Safety and Environmental Control

  • All personnel wore full PPE including safety helmet, face shield, gloves, ear defenders, and safety boots.

  • Area was properly barricaded and signposted.

  • Regular inspection was conducted during drilling to ensure stability of the rig.

  • Water slurry was properly collected and disposed according to environmental guidelines.

  • Electrical cables and water hoses were routed safely to prevent tripping hazards.

Results and Observations

  • The coring work was completed successfully within the same day without any incident.

  • The Shibuya TS-403 machine demonstrated stable performance, accurate feed control, and minimal vibration.

  • The diamond core bits produced clean cylindrical cores with visible aggregates (as shown in photos).

  • The final opening achieved precise alignment and a smooth edge finish, meeting client’s tolerance requirements.

  • Worksite cleanliness and noise control were well maintained throughout the operation.

Conclusion

The Shibuya TS-403 coring machines proved highly efficient for controlled concrete opening works in confined areas.Their rigid column structure, smooth hand-feed mechanism, and reliable water-cooling system ensured precise drilling with minimal operator fatigue.

This project demonstrated Teesin Machinery’s capability to deliver professional, clean, and precise coring solutions that meet safety and quality standards required in substation and indoor environments.
