Cutting Work Using Hydraulic Handsaw

Precision Cutting Of Reinforced Concrete Wall For Access Opening

Opening Creation in Reinforced Concrete Parapet

This project involved creating a precise opening on a reinforced concrete parapet wall as part of a structural modification during a commercial renovation. A hydraulic handsaw was selected to carry out the cutting works due to its power, precision, and capability to handle thick concrete sections without vibration.

Execution Process:

  1. Marking & Safety Setup:

    • Exact dimensions were marked on the wall based on structural drawings.

    • Scaffold and safety barriers were set up to protect surrounding areas.

  2. Cutting Operation:

    • The hydraulic handsaw was mounted securely and cutting was performed in multiple passes (top, bottom, and sides).

    • Water cooling was applied to minimize dust and cool the blade.

    • Operator adjusted the cutting depth progressively to avoid chipping and ensure smooth edges.

  3. Completion:

    • Once all sides were cut, the slab was removed manually with the help of lifting equipment.

    • The cut edges were clean and precise, with minimal post-processing required.

Key Benefits Observed:

  • High Cutting Power: Effectively handled dense concrete with embedded steel reinforcement.

  • Precision: Delivered straight, clean cuts suitable for structural openings.

  • Low Vibration: Reduced risk of damaging surrounding structure or causing cracks.

  • Safety & Cleanliness: Water cooling controlled dust, ensuring a safer work environment.

Conclusion:

The hydraulic handsaw provided an efficient, professional solution for this concrete cutting task. It proved ideal for structural openings, offering controlled, vibration-free cutting with a clean finish. The project was completed safely and within the targeted timeframe.
