Floor Preparation Project-Roughen Concrete Surface

Floor Preparation Project-Roughen Concrete Surface

Roughen Concrete Surface

The main objective of the works was to mill and roughen the concrete surface to achieve a proper bonding profile for subsequent overlay works. This process ensures better adhesion for coatings or repair mortar and prolongs the durability of the structure.

The chosen machine for this task was the Scarifier 250 Diesel Type, selected for its portability, high-efficiency removal rate, and suitability for outdoor heavy-duty applications.

Scope of Work
  • Preparation: Workers were briefed on safety requirements, including PPE (helmets, vests, safety boots, ear protection, and gloves).Site was cordoned off, and milling alignment was marked.

  • Execution:

    • Deployment of Scarifier 250 Diesel machine along the designated concrete slab areas.

    • Milling depth was controlled to achieve consistent surface roughness without damaging underlying structure.

    • Works included milling along edge lines, drain channels, and open yard slabs.

    • Multiple passes were carried out to ensure even surface finish.

  • Completion: Milled surface was inspected for roughness uniformity. Loose debris and dust were cleared with industrial vacuum/air blow to prepare surface for the next construction phase.

Machine Utilized – Scarifier 250 Diesel Type
  • Engine: Reliable diesel engine, suitable for outdoor projects without power supply constraints.

  • Cutting Width: 250 mm

  • Application: Surface milling, removal of laitance, coatings, epoxy, or preparing concrete for overlay.

  • Advantages:

    • High productivity with adjustable milling depth.

    • Heavy-duty design ensures durability on large site works.

    • Easy maneuverability for both straight runs and edge works.

On-site Demonstration & Team Training

As part of the works, a practical demonstration was conducted for the project team.

  • Operators were guided on machine operation, depth adjustment, and safety handling.

  • Workers observed the performance and engaged in trial runs to familiarize themselves with operational techniques.

  • Training emphasized machine stability, vibration control, and cutting pattern to achieve uniform milling.

Outcome
  • Successful completion of concrete milling works using Scarifier 250 Diesel Type.

  • Achieved consistent surface roughness and clean profile, meeting project specifications.

  • Team gained hands-on knowledge for future independent operation.

Conclusion

The Scarifier 250 Diesel machine has proven to be efficient, reliable, and versatile for outdoor heavy-duty milling projects. Its diesel-driven system provided flexibility without dependency on power supply, making it ideal for large-scale industrial sites like Pulau Samulun.

This project demonstrated both the machine performance and the team’s capability in executing milling works safely and effectively.
