Terrazzo Floor Polishing Project

This project focused on the restoration and high-gloss polishing of an indoor terrazzo floor that had become dull and uneven due to foot traffic and lack of maintenance. The objective was to restore the natural brightness and smooth finish of the terrazzo surface using a mechanical polishing process without wax or coating.

 Equipment & Materials:

• Polishing Machine: Klindex Rocky – a professional single-disc machine, known for its durability and constant torque under pressure.

• Polishing Pads: Klindex Elica Diamond Floor Pads – high-performance resin pads specifically designed for terrazzo and marble polishing, usable with only water.

Polishing Procedure:

1. Initial Grinding & Flattening:

   • Started with Elica 1 (coarse grit) to remove surface scratches and level minor undulations.

2. Intermediate Polishing:

   • Progressed through Elica 2 and 3 to refine the floor texture, smoothen pores, and begin gloss recovery.

3. Final High-Gloss Polishing:

   • Used Elica 4 pad with only water to bring out a natural shine without chemicals.

   • Achieved a reflective, slip-resistant finish suitable for commercial and residential use.

4. Cleaning & Finishing:

   • Thoroughly cleaned the polished floor and performed final touch-ups on corners and edges.

Project Outcome:

• Restored terrazzo floor to like-new condition with a natural, high-gloss finish

• No chemical waxes or sealers used, resulting in an eco-friendly, breathable surface

• Uniform gloss achieved even in high-traffic areas

• Client impressed by fast turnaround time and sustainable polishing method
