What is shotcrete?
Shotcrete or sprayed concrete is concrete or mortar conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a construction technique. It is typically reinforced by conventional steel rods, steel mesh, or fibers.
A shotcrete machine is a piece of machinery for spraying substances like mortar or concrete, and it comprises a concrete pump, compressor, remote control, arm or hose, and nozzle.
Shotcreting allows for more concrete adhesion and bond strength than traditional methods, reducing the number of admixtures required.
Unlike concrete pouring, which uses formwork and scaffolds to maintain the weight or the water-cement proportion, sagging is not an issue with shotcrete application.
